Macan S brake quote from the dealer almost made me choke on my karak
So I took my 2018 Macan S in for its routine service at the official Porsche center yesterday and aside from the usual wallet draining oil change they handed me a separate estimate for rear pads and rotors that I honestly had to read twice because I thought there was an extra zero on there by mistake. The car has about 62k kilometers on it and I knew the rears were getting down there because I can feel the lip on the disc edge with my fingernail but the number they quoted me was north of seven thousand dirhams which just feels absolutely wild for something that is essentially a wear and tear item on a five year old SUV. I’m not the type to cheap out on safety especially on a vehicle that weighs this much and can actually move when you ask it to but I also don’t love the idea of paying a premium just for the stamp in the book when there are other places around Dubai that specialize in German performance stuff and use the same Textar or Pagid pads anyway. I was scrolling through my phone in the waiting area trying to calm down and ended up on a page where they break down the process for Porsches specifically and there was even a button to click to explore the difference between OEM compound options and some aftermarket alternatives that supposedly dust less which would be a godsend on these satin platinum wheels. Has anyone here actually stepped away from the main dealer for brake work on a Macan or Cayenne and if so did you notice any difference in pedal feel or noise afterwards or is the dealership really the only safe bet if I want to keep the resale value looking somewhat respectable whenever I decide to swap this thing out for something else?
