  • How do you transport food for a large family gathering without everything

I’m hosting Eid dinner for my entire extended family next week, and I’m starting to stress about the logistics. I have a big kitchen at home, but my aunt is making some dishes at her house, my cousin is bringing desserts from his place, and I’m supposed to pick up a large catering order from a restaurant across town. That means we have to transport a lot of food from three different locations to my house, and I’m worried about everything arriving in good condition. Hot dishes need to stay hot, cold dishes need to stay cold, and nothing should spill or get squished during the drive. I have coolers for the cold stuff, but I’m not sure the best way to keep hot food hot without it drying out. I’ve also had bad experiences in the past with containers tipping over in the car, even when I thought I had them secured. I’ve been looking online for advice, and I came across some good tips for keeping goods protected during transport that apply to food too – things like using containers with locking lids, separating items so they don’t crush each other, and packing the car in a smart order so the heaviest things are on the bottom. For anyone who regularly transports large amounts of food – what containers do you swear by? Do you have any tricks for keeping hot food hot without special equipment? And how do you pack the car so nothing slides around when you turn or brake? I really want this dinner to go smoothly and I don’t want to be the reason the food arrives in a mess. Any advice would be a huge help.
