Audi S4 gearbox jerk in first gear only when it’s hot
Audi S4 gearbox jerk in first gear only when it’s hot, any shop that actually knows these DSGs inside out?
My 2018 S4 has been doing this weird thing for the past month or so where the transmission shifts perfectly fine when the car is cold for the first ten minutes of driving but as soon as everything warms up and I’m stuck in the usual Sheikh Zayed Road evening crawl the downshifts from third to second and second to first get this annoying little jolt, almost like someone’s bumping me from behind at a stoplight, and it’s just enough to make me dread traffic more than I already do. I had a regular garage scan it and they said there were no fault codes so it’s probably fine, but it doesn’t feel fine and I’ve read enough horror stories about mechatronic failures on these ZF8 and DSG boxes to know that ignoring it is just asking for a ten thousand dirham surprise down the line. I started looking for a shop that offers proper Audi gearbox transmission repair solutions instead of just a fluid drain and fill and a shrug, and I saw Royal Prince Auto Care has a whole section on it with some pretty in depth diagnostic stuff mentioned, but I’m hoping someone on here has actually had them dig into their Audi’s transmission and can tell me if they’re good at pinpointing whether it’s a software adaptation issue or an actual mechanical wear problem. I just want to get ahead of this before I’m stranded somewhere on Al Khail with a transmission that won’t shift out of second.
