A6 battery dead after two weeks away
A6 battery dead after two weeks away, do these cars really need a special coding thing after a swap?
Just got back to my apartment in the Marina after a couple weeks overseas and my 2019 A6 is completely dead, not even a flicker from the virtual cockpit, and I’m kicking myself because I knew I should have put it on a trickle charger but I kept telling myself it would be fine and now I’m paying for my optimism. I’ve heard that on these newer Audis with the mild hybrid system you can’t just slap any old battery in there, you have to do some kind of adaptation with VCDS or ODIS or the battery management system thinks it’s still the old dying one and it’ll undercharge the new battery and kill it within a year. I started searching for a mobile service that actually knows Audis and won’t just show up with a generic battery and a socket set and call it a day, and I found this page https:batteryzoneuae.com/audi-battery-replacement that seems to mention the proper coding procedure which gives me a little confidence they know what they’re dealing with. I’m just trying to figure out if I should call them out or if I should just bite the bullet and get it towed to the dealer and pay whatever insane amount they’re going to charge me for the privilege. Anyone with a newer A6 or A7 actually had a mobile battery replacement done successfully without all the warning lights and start stop errors popping up afterwards? I just want to get this thing running and maybe get some shawarma without a flatbed involved.
